New to 4-H or curious about what 4-H has to offer in Jefferson County? Wednesdays through July and August, Explore 4-H classes will engage youth in fun, hands-on activities in visual arts, food preservation, cooking, STEAM challenges, gardening and more! This one-day workshop will cover the science of food preservation. We will learn about microbiology, chemistry and safe canning methods. Then youth will select recipes to prepare fruit jam and pickles for water-bath canning. Open to youth 10-18 years old. Please arrive promptly at 9am. Bring a sack lunch, water bottle, and wear clothing appropriate for hands-on food preservation activities. $10 materials and supply fee
