Description

"Motivational Interviewing is an approach... that attempts to move an individual away from a state of indecision or uncertainty and towards finding motivation to making positive decisions and accomplishing established goals." -Miller & Rollnick, 2013 This two-day, interactive training will be facilitated by two MINT Members (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers) with background in behavioral health services across various organizations in New Mexico. This interactive training will introduce Motivational Interviewing (MI) to the behavioral health professional, as well as allow for the practicing of MI skills. Participants will learn, or better explore, the fundamentals of MI that support people faced with ambivalence and change in their lives. Each day will begin promptly at 9:00am MST and end at 4:00pm MST with an hour break for lunch. Lunch will not be included. About the trainers: Clara and Amanda became MINT members in November of 2021 and have 2+ years of training experience under NM Motivational Interviewing Training Center (MITC). They are now creating a community-based business to spread MI across New Mexico. Both trainers are currently pursuing their Master in Social Work and collectively have 13 years of experience in the behavioral health field.
