The Q26 and Cuties are excited to announce our Critical Eye Movie Night series! This special set of events is more than just film screenings; it also creates space to have an honest discussion about the media created to represent US and OUR realities. Come watch, review, and talk honestly about what these films did well and how we can continue moving forward with excellent queer media! Please join us on Saturday August 20th.
Our August featured film is Bruising for Besos. Bruising for Besos is an intimate character study of Yoli--a charismatic Xicana lesbian making familia in L.A. with her stable, best friend. One night she pursues an alluring Puerto Rican woman. Yoli finds herself recreating a tumultuous past and having to choose between a familiar pattern of hurt or begin to face the history that haunts her, in order to love "right." (source)
