Description

With great sadness, I have come to the conclusion that I must rehome my precious boy Archie. I rescued Archie a year a half ago after he was abandoned out in the country. The owners of the property he was found on threatened to “get rid of him”, so I knew I had to act fast. I have rescued and fostered many dogs over the years, and Archie was one of the most timid dogs I had ever met. He had clearly never been in the car, in a house.. on a leash. Archie has come so far in the time we have had him, but he is still very fearful of men. After speaking to my father, who is a Veterinarian, I feel that my home is not the best fit for him. My husband has tried to bond with Archie, but he travels constantly and has made very little progress. I also have two teenage stepsons that terrify sweet Archie, although they too offer him snacks and try to bond with him. I have tried everything from sedatives to CBD chews. I can only assume that Archie was abused by a man as a puppy. Archie does better with my father, who is in his 70’s. He has never been aggressive towards anyone, but runs and hides when men are around. I will include details about Archie below, but please feel to email me with any questions you might have. I will want to bring Archie to his new home, and would prefer to stay in touch periodically with his new owners. This sweet boy has a special place in my heart, and I want nothing but the best for him. I am not in a rush, and will wait till the right home comes along! Details: * Great Pyrenees (mix?)- 101 lbs *Approx 3 years old * Up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention *Neutered and microchipped *Loves small dogs and is good with cats (Archie has never lived around a large dog. I assume he would be fine with a proper intro) * Loves walks and riding in car * Potty trained. Occasionally “marks” if I’m away for long stretches. (6+ hours) *Rehoming fee to ensure his safety. Negotiable *** This breed is gorgeous but be advised that they SHED. I would prefer that Archie goes to a home that has experience with this breed or a similar breed.
