**COVID-19 NOTE: This event will be held INDOORS, and following Durham County current guidelines, we will not be checking proof of vaccination upon entry or requiring masks. Racing Heart. Shaky knees. You take a final deep breath and then take the plunge… First times, am I right? They can be strange, terrifying, exhilerating… whether it’s the first time time you plucked up the courage to ride the big-kid roller coaster, the first time your acne-plagued face locked lips with your crush’s brace-filled mouth, your first job, your first car accident, your first pet, your first time facing a fear, your first real loss… Experiencing something new is relatable af but the big question is why? Were you pressured to do it? Did you feel ready? What happened next?? First timers and Monti regulars - bring your stories to The Monti’s First Times StorySLAM at Motorco Music Hall on August 10th for a night of stories as relatable as they are surprising. That’s what being human is, right? A remarkably ordinary ride, and everyone’s gotta take their first step to get on. About The Monti StorySLAM (18 & up event) The Monti StorySLAM is an open storytelling event, where anyone with a story on a certain theme has a chance to tell it.  This is a competitive event, so there will be judges in the audience.  At each event, there will be eight storytellers chosen at random; each story is five minutes long; one winner will be declared at the end of the night.  Here's how you can tell your story.) You think, "Hey, I have a story that goes with that theme!" (The theme for this event is First Times.)You buy a ticket.You practice your five-minute story at home and in your car.You show up and fill out a form stating that you would like to tell a story (NOTE: You DO NOT have to tell a story to attend.  You can just sit back and enjoy the show.)During the show, we will pick names from a hat at random, one at a time, and each person called will have five minutes to tell their story.After eight stories have been told, one winner will be declared!Winners from each StorySLAM will qualify for The Monti GrandSLAM in 2023. The GrandSLAM brings the winners back to compete for the ultimate title of The Monti GrandSLAMpion!
