Ages 10 and up. In our Makerspace, your child will choose their medium and create their projects for exploration of the historic Long Beach Pike. We have LEGO, EV3 robots, Finch robots, a few computers, sewing machines, lots of motors and other Maker projects. We will: Meet Paul Miranda, born in 1928 and lived on the Pike for most of his early years. Meet Briq4Fun, in the UK and explore Great Yarmouth and other UK amusements Look at videos of Tivoli Gardens in Denmark. Research the Pike in the 1930s and create some product based on the Pike. We have a number of working products, or the participant may choose to follow his/her own Maker path. The Pike GBC. Pike and Amusement themed fabric. Drawings and stories based on the Pike. LEGO STEAM kits. Models of Shoreline Village. Digital creations. A Pike Tour. LEGO models of the PIke. Assets for a Pike Comic Book. a Pike Augmented Reality experience. Pike themed fabric. How to videos themed around the Pike. (e.g. how to use Powerpoint. How to use GIMP. How to use Scratch. Spark AR.) What do you want to learn? How can we apply The Pike Stories to it? How can we leverage the knowledge to create a product or creative display. Then we will have an art show. The Pike GBC project is a mechanical engineering exploration into making balls move around a circuit. The barrier to entry in GBCs is very high. We are working to define the minimal kits and designs that can empower your child as they work in GBCs. The Pike Stories Fabric Project.
