Do you have tons of extra figs on your trees and interested in learning a new way to use them? Fig cakes are a common treat amongst those who have access to the sweet fruit. However, maybe you're looking for something a little less sweet at times. This is for you! Fig bread is made similarly to other fruit breads, like banana or apple bread. It can be made as a loaf or muffins. All you need are fresh, ripe figs to get this recipe started! Come join Hyde County's FCS Extension Agent at the Ocracoke Community Building for a hands-on class making fig bread, leading up to the Fig Festival later in the week. This event is FREE thanks to a wonderful grant from the Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Registration is limited to 12 participants per class and is required. This event registration is for August 1, 9:30am - 12:00pm.
