Join us for Day Two of our Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Workshops in Douglas. The Southern Georgia Regional Commission, in partnership with Georgia Bikes, is offering two upcoming training workshops on Bicycle and Pedestrian safety in two different convenient locations. The course is designed for Main Streets, Downtown Merchants, Officials and the General Public to gain a better understanding of the new and current Georgia bicycle and pedestrian laws. The course covers the best practices for educating bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers on the safe use of roadways. Also included is a review of O.C.G.A. sections pertinent to bicycles and pedestrians, an examination of bicycle and pedestrian facility types, an update on trends in bicycling in South Georgia, information on crash reporting, an analysis of bicycle and pedestrian crash data for South Georgia, and strategies for improving pedestrian safety. Tuesday's course is hosted by the City of Douglas Main Street Program. For questions about downtown Douglas, GA, contact Dave Hughes, Douglas Main Street Director. This course is offered by Georgia Bikes and the Southern Georgia Regional Commission supported by funding from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, GDOT, and FHWA.
