Summary Work involves driving trailers between two-three local warehouses and moving containers to dock doors and within the yards. May also support inside forklift operations when Switcher work is completed. Inside warehouse: Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities. Responsible for the timely loading and unloading of both inbound and outbound freight, order selection, sanitation, trailer and freight inspection, any and all duties having to do with the day-to-day operation in a warehousing/distribution environment. Responsibilities Switcher Work Operate Yard Truck in a safe manner during numerous roll-on/roll-off procedures daily involving loaded and empty containers. Maneuver the vehicle safely at various speeds and/or in difficult situations including, but not limited to inclement weather and/or in areas of tight (limited) maneuvering. Drive and operate vehicle under 40 mph in and around the plant and storage lot/staging area. Sliding trailer tandems when necessary Safely entering/exiting yard tractor numerous times per shift Inside Duties: Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks, containers, trailers or vans Moving goods packed on pallets around the storage facility Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions Checking loads are secure Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards. May be asked to perform duties of a Laborer including counting, manual packing/ repacking/palletizing product, sweeping and general housekeeping duties as required to maintain the warehouse. Qualifications: Must have CDL class A Preferred at least 2 years of Electric forklift, Reach truck, Stand up and electric pallet jack experience Clamp truck experience preferred but not required High School diploma or equivalent Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner Maintain a clean & safe environment Must be able to use Radio Frequency (RF) scanner gun Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license required Forklift certification per OSHA standards preferred but not requirement Effectively work in a fast-paced, team environment and display effective verbal and written communication Pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background and criminal checks) Physical demands and abilities Regularly sitting or standing on a powered industrial truck/tractor truck/yard horse Ability to work outside with ever changing weather conditions- may be exposed to extreme colds, heat, snow or rain May lift up to 55 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time Having a good sense of balance Having good eye-hand-foot coordination Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
