Light Diesel Truck Mechanic Needed, Salary position! Company car!

We are a local Motor Carrier with a fleet of 12 trucks, in need of hiring a Light Diesel Mechanic to maintain its fleet of Tractor-Trailers. In this position you will work closely with the owner. Mechanic is required to thoroughly inspect, monitor, oversee all mechanical related issues on company equipment, perform truck (tractor) safety and general maintenance related repairs. To be considered you must have at least 2 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic. Must have the ability to work unsupervised. Be self-motivated and able to work independently. Experience with light engine repairs, clearing codes and dispatching roadside assistance calls is preferred. Must have clean driving record. Job Requirements and Responsibilities: • Education: High School Diploma GED or graduation from trade/technical school preferred. Additional technical school education may substitute for required experience. Driver’s license required. • 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic • Complete advanced preventative maintenance inspections on tractor equipment in compliance with specified safety procedures and DOT regulations • Thoroughly understand basic tractor maintenance, diagnosis, and repair, root causes of common issues, and corrective steps to keep trucks running at maximum efficiency. • Familiar with DOT and FMCSA safety requirements • Recognize and identify, non-diesel specific related repair or maintenance items (trailer, tires, etc). • Assist in the moving of equipment around the yard. CDL Preferred but not required. • Maintains a clean and safe work area compliant with company regulation and policy. • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations. • Perform additional duties as required • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties • Performs standard vehicle maintenance • Performs standard component inspections and repairs • Performs preventive maintenance • Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable • Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required • Replaces defective components as instructed • Interacts with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
