Mary Ann Ihm founded Wellspring, https://www.wellspringinc.org/#/, on March 1, 1982 and is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary. She combined her experience with organic gardening, 30 years of teaching, and 25 years of non-profit education experience to bring Wellspring into being. As an educator, Mary Ann sought to create a holistic learning environment, one that would help people live in harmony with themselves and the earth. Wellspring is a non-profit education organization, retreat and conference center and an organic teaching farm whose mission is to inspire and teach people to grow, prepare and eat healthy food, and in so doing, transform food systems and build community. Mary Ann is currently the Conference Center Director, a volunteer caretaker, and maintains flower gardens to add to Wellspring’s natural beauty. She also wrote a book, ‘The Wellspring Story, the First 30 Years’ for Wellspring’s 30th anniversary, a historical overview of the organization.
