Description
Discover one of Portland's hidden gems! Willamette Falls! They are only accessible by water (and you still stay distanced from them but enough to enjoy!) Here is a write up about them - https://www.world-of-waterfalls.com/waterfalls/pacific-northwest-willamette-falls/ Although the distance to the falls and back from the park is only 2.5 miles, this is not an easy paddle, we will be going against a strong current and there are a lot of eddies. Don't worry it is safe! Just not an "easy" two miles. Be prepared to paddle hard :) Kayaks, SUPs, Canoes etc.. are welcomed (any paddle vessel) *no kids or pets allowed **This event is not suitable for someone who has never paddled before - there are very stron currents in the area, this is not a guided tour/class so you must have some expeience paddling (beginners OK as long as you have been on the water before.) Liability Waiver: Friendly reminder that it is required to sign the e-waiver before attending your first Women Who Explore event. Please sign on an annual basis. https://forms.gle/HwwDkNxiDZAk15vW7 Meeting Location: https://www.orcity.org/parksandrecreation/jon-storm-park What to bring: SUP/KAYAK + PaddleYou must have a PFD/Lifevest on you to participateIf your vessel is over ten feet you are required to have a permit - https://www.oregon.gov/osmb/boater-info/pages/non-motorized-boating-and-paddling.aspx?fbclid=IwAR2vsDQ5Pxnm97qCm4Qd6dCdf7aDxroRoXLJYAdJ94YWgnITW6EglLS8t8IDry Bag for your phone and keys** Please Note: Ambassadors are not wilderness first aid certified and are not guides.
