Position Title: Warehouse Assistant Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor Day and Hours: M-F, 7:00-3:30pm (occasional overtime and Saturdays, as needed) Status: Full time, non-exempt Location: Santa Barbara, CA. Salary: $18.00/hour, plus benefits (Health Insurance, PTO, etc.) Purpose of the Position: To assist the Warehouse Supervisor with the day-to-day activities of operating the warehouse, included but not limited to, food distribution, collection of food donations, sorting, packing, labeling various products, inventory control, maintaining all health and sanitation codes and general maintenance and cleanliness of facilities and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Enforce, support and carry-out Foodbank policies and procedures as they relate to the position. 2. Maintain accessible and organized pallet placement in the warehouse and cooler/freezer. 3. Assist Partner Services in meeting agency delivery needs, scheduling options, and general routing. 4. Assist agency representatives with their pick up appointments, making customer service a top priority. 5. Accurately field, pick, and stage multiple orders throughout the day. 6. Accurately assist with inventory control activities, such as cycle counts and month end inventory. 7. Actively participate in meetings relating to workplace and food safety as well as organization wide meetings and trainings. 8. Pick up food donations from various locations for delivery to the Foodbank (as instructed). 9. Ensure all food and non-food items are handled, stored and distributed in a safe and sanitary manner as per ServSafe Food Handler certification and Public Health Department requirements. 10. Perform routine care and maintenance of buildings, and grounds. Assure sanitation and safety procedures are at required level of order and cleanliness in and around the warehouse. 11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor in order to satisfactorily complete Foodbank goals and objectives. 12. Support periodic weekend and after business hour operations on a rotating assignment schedule. Qualifications: • One year or more of related experience and/or training • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, avoiding lag, lapse or extended absences of on-duty job responsibilities • Strong organizational and time management skills • Experience with inventory control processes • Previous high level performance of customer satisfaction • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance and stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell • Forklift Operator Certification preferred • Clean DMV record, Class C License • Bilingual candidates preferred (English/Spanish) • Experience with driving GVWR <26,000 pound box trucks • Able to pass a pre-employment back ground check, physical and drug screen The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County embraces a philosophy that recognizes and values diversity.
