The Western Stock Show Association d/b/a National Western Stock Show (WSSA/NWSS) is seeking qualified candidates to join our Events Operations Department that will work as a team member with the organization as a whole to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment and support achieving NWSS' Vision, Mission and Values. The candidate will assist the Event Operations Leads in the day-to-day operations of the National Western Complex. Overview This position is for set up and tear down of events held at the National Western Complex. Under the direction of the Event Operations Management team, successful candidates must be able to understand verbal and written directions and assist with communication and supervision of assigned events staff while working alongside crew. Ability to communicate and work in a team environment under set deadlines while delivering exceptional customer service is essential. Great organizational and time management skills are a must. Roles & Responsibilities Operates various equipment (forklift, scissor lift, floor scrubber, tractor, etc.) in a manner that is compliant with OSHA and NWSS safety procedures. Assists in stall/staging set up and tear down for all shows and events (may not always include operation of equipment). Assists with mowing, trimming hedges, removing weeds, snow removal, cleaning of trash and other refuse. Assists with general maintenance projects such as cleaning, painting, sweeping, shoveling, mopping, etc. for the facility as needed. Under the supervision of the Event Operations Leads, assists with communication and monitoring of assigned maintenance workers. Uses a two-way radio to communicate with other staff. Works well with others and has the ability to instruct and assist employees. Duties may shift to that of an Area Supervisor during the National Western Stock Show each January, leading crews who work 24/7 the entire month to keep the buildings and grounds ready for the next day or prepare for the next event or move in. Required Skills & Abilities Must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written directions and work in a team environment under set deadlines while delivering exceptional customer service. Organizational and time management skills are a must. Has the ability to move to different locations in a timely manner when needed. Must practice good grooming and hygiene and is expected to dress neatly and appropriately. Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions Must be at least 18 years of age or older to apply. Must have a flexible schedule, including working days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays hours up to 12-hour shifts. Hours of work may vary depending on shows. Preferred Experience/Qualifications Knowledge and use of various equipment, hand tools and various general labor tools is preferred. Experience operating a forklift, skid steer, tractor, loader, dump truck and/or similar equipment is preferred. Knowledge and use of outside grounds equipment (lawn mower, weed eater, weed sprayer), hand tools and various general labor tools is preferred. Strong customer service skills and customer service experience preferred. Working knowledge of the National Western, it's operation, events, and mission. Experience monitoring other team members. Possess a valid Driver's License and provide a clean and current MVR upon hire and a clean MVR on an annual basis. High School Diploma/GED. Physical Demands National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable working at heights and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds. Pay Range This is a non-exempt temporary part time position which ranges from $16.50 - $17.49 an hour and offers sick time accrual benefits. Employees who meet Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) under the ACA Act are eligible to participate in the company's medical insurance and vision insurance plan. Eligibility occurs the first of the month after one year of FTE employment. Upon meeting plan qualifications, the WSSA/NWSS also offers a generous 401(k) retirement plan to its employees.
