About the Attic Learning Community: Founded in 1999, The Attic is a dynamic learning community located in Woodinville, Washington. The Attic Learning Community is seeking an experienced and organized Facilities Manager and Custodian to join our team. Our ideal candidate is self directed and able to work independently and also work collaboratively as part of a team. Our ideal candidate understands best practices in facilities, safety, and risk management, and is also able to provide daily custodial services for our small building. This is a part time position (approximately 1000 hours/year) that offers an excellent benefits package, and opportunities for professional development. Job Summary Under minimal supervision, manage the smooth and safe operation of The Attic Learning Community’s campus, which includes our main building, a smaller building used for storage and office space, and our outdoor spaces. This position also handles day to day custodial services and oversees the weekly deep cleaning done by an outside vendor. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilities Management ● Protect, maintain, and enhance The Attic’s facilities in a safe and efficient manner including buildings, grounds, furniture, fixtures, play equipment, fire safety and security equipment, and maintenance equipment and supplies. Conduct weekly walk-throughs of each campus with the Operations Manager to identify safety and maintenance items requiring attention. ● Coordinate maintenance and facilities requests and oversee the work of maintenance staff, equipment vendors, and trades who service campus. ● Develop, in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Operations Manager, the facilities budget and manage that budget throughout the year. ● Oversee building schedule, daily opening procedures, space needs, and space usage. Open the building each morning, ensuring it is clean and ready for learners. ●Be on-call for facility emergencies. Health and Safety Management ●Monitor and manage compliance with safety and risk-management issues. ● Support the emergency preparedness committee by helping review/establish emergency procedures, and conduct drills. ● Complete mandatory reporting to the health department; prepare for health department inspections; and ensure compliance with health department guidelines. ● Maintain ample supply and distribute health-related supplies, replacements, and equipment (thermometers, PPE, cleaning and sanitation supplies, air filters, and so on.) ● Oversee the creation, placement, and installation of signage and equipment. ● Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience: ● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred but not required ● 2+ years related experience and/or training in facility and project management ● Experience in a school preferred but not required Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: ● Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively ● Basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills, and ability to understand blueprints and schematic drawings ● Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures ● Strong attention to detail, ability to quickly assess the needs of a situation, and respond effectively with an understanding of diplomacy in emerging situations ● Effective, collaborative team member with ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff, and able to operate independently with minimal supervision ● Ability to work in person around core weekday school hours and be available for facilities emergencies outside of school hours ● Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows or Mac environment using Office, Google Suite, common automated systems for record-keeping, and confidently learn new technology ● Ability to maintain confidential information ● Ability to traverse uneven ground, navigate stairs and/or inclines, and discern visual hazards such as traffic, status of equipment, and facility maintenance needs ● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Our ideal candidate will have thoroughly explored our website at www.the-attic.org.
