DANIA BEACH, FL — The pilot of a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on the shore of Dania Beach Tuesday afternoon, WPLG reported.
The plane, a single-engine Cessna 172, took off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 2:03 p.m., reports said. Ten minutes later, it landed in the sand at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, WSVN reported.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and a U.S. Coast Guard boat responded to the scene, reports said.
According to the Federal Aviation Authority, only one person was on board the plane.
There were no injuries in the incident, Chief Michael Kane, a spokesman for Broward Sheriff's Office Fire, said. "To say that this was a miraculous landing would be a great understatement."
It's unclear forced the pilot to make the emergency landing, reports said. The plane is registered to Andros Marketing LLC based in Dania Beach.
