The University of San Diego School of Law's Children's Advocacy Institute is pleased to offer a 12-hour training program on promising and effective practices and strategies to positively impact permanency* efforts and outcomes, with a special focus on the first 90 days of a child welfare case. Sponsored by the Judicial Council of California, this training is intended for judicial officers, attorneys, child welfare professionals, probation officers, tribal representatives and advocates, community advocates, CASAs, and other interested persons. This training is offered at no cost to the participants. *The term permanency, as used in the context of this training program, means permanent connections for children and youth. This can be in the form of reunification or finding another permanent home, and includes connections to the child's biological family, neighborhood, and culture. Day 2 - Friday, September 9, 2022 (Half-day)Neurodevelopmentally-Informed Decision Making for the First 90 Days Finding Permanency for Older Youth Recent Policy Changes Impacting Permanency During the First 90 Days Bias in the Child Welfare System: How it Impacts Permanency During the First 90 Days MCLE, Sept. 9, 2022: MCLE approval will be sought BBS CE, Sept. 9, 2022: CE approval will be sought ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCOVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR BAKERSFIELD IN-PERSON PROGRAMAll participants and faculty will be required upon arrival to either (1) provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, or (2) provide a negative COVID-19 test (obtained no earlier than 72 hours prior to arrival). Participants or faculty who fail to provide either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival will not be admitted to the program. Participants and faculty are required to perform a self-screening assessment for symptoms listed on the CDC’s website prior to traveling to the program location and on a daily basis, if attending a multi-day program. Anyone who (1) is experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms listed on the CDC’s website, (2) is diagnosed with or has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days, or (3) within the last 14 days has been in close contact with someone infected with COVID-19, should not attend the program.
