(CSWaste) is a disposal and recycling company, located in Fairfax, VA. We currently have a full-time opportunity for General Laborers at our Fairfax County Virginia Operation. Position Summary A Residential Garbage Helper is responsible for safely providing prompt, courteous, and complete removal of Waste and/or Recyclable materials for customers who reside on a designated route. In addition, a Helper is responsible for assisting Route Drivers with all critical driving and backing maneuvers. Including, ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Company’s safety standards prior to operating the vehicle and ensuring that all Company, state, and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle. Qualifications - MUST be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and submit proof of vaccination status. - MUST be at least 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in the United States. - MUST possess a valid DMV-issued Driver’s License. - MUST have a least 6 months of relevant work experience. - Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and criminal history. Required Education - High school or equivalent Physical Requirements - Requires to exert physical effort: pushing, pulling, bending, handling, and lifting objects up to 100-150 lbs. Frequently. - Physically able to work 8 to 12+ hours in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, and snow). - Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday. Key Responsibilities - Works in accordance with Champion Services In. and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws. - Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch. Including accidents, injuries, property damage, etc. - Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into truck - Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into truck hopper. - Assists driver with all backing maneuvers while on the route. - Notifies the Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service, or potential safety hazards. - Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Manager Dispatch and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs. - Attend weekly safety meetings and apply concepts to ensure a safe workplace for self and others. - Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers, and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely manner. - Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies. - Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
