Description

Hi. I’m a guitarist, in my mid-20’s, and I recently moved to Baltimore for grad school. I’d like to get a band/project going, but really just for fun—not a professional or full-time endeavor. I played in a lot of bands during my college years---everything from shoegaze to jazz to americana. Despite this miscellany of experience, my own music tends to fall somewhere between ambient and minimal post rock. An abridged list of influences (in no particular order): Grouper, Slowdive, Stars of the Lid, William Basinski, Windy & Carl, Zelienople, Seefeel, Duster, Oren Ambarchi, Pan American, Loren Connors, Hakobune, Chihei Hatakeyama, Ana Roxanne, Bowery Electric, Bark Psychosis, Fennesz, Machinefabriek, Amulets, Philip Jeck, Natural Snow Buildings. (tldr: any music on kranky) I make music by playing an electric guitar through a slew of pedals. I use multiple loopers to sample and resample sounds, creating cascading drones and evolving textures. I never sync the loops to each other or set an overall tempo; I let the sounds meander---it’s more interesting that way. If any of this sounds intriguing to you, hit me up. It’d be fun to play with another guitarist, a bassist (who’s willing to experiment with pedals), or a synthesist/keyboardist, but I’m open to other instruments too. After all, an ambient guitar/banjo/Irish bouzouki project would be pretty novel. As stated above, my goal is simply to have fun and make some cool music. If we can release said music on an indie label and play shows here and there, that’s icing on the cake. Cheers, M.
