Apply Directly at: We are seeking three team-oriented self-starters to join our Public Works Sanitation division as a Plant Operator I/II/III. Ability to hire level I, II, or III based on relevant experience. This position performs a variety of skilled technical duties and semi-skilled labor in the operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plant; performs adjustments and repairs to plant equipment; collects and documents samples for laboratory testing; and performs a variety of related duties as assigned. Pay range for Plant Operator I position is currently $27.46 - $35.10 hourly Effective 07/04/2022, Plant Operator I pay range will increase to $27.94 - $35.71 hourly **Opportunities for Growth built-in!** Upon completion of a satisfactory probationary period, this position offers the opportunity to promote to the more advanced levels without requiring a new probationary period. Pay ranges for advanced level positions as follows: Plant Operator II $29.99 - $38.29; Eff 07/04/2022 increases to: $30.52 - $38.96 Plant Operator III $33.01 - $42.12; Eff 07/04/2022 increases to: $33.59 - $42.85 Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are: Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in water or wastewater treatment plant operations. Experience: Experience commensurate with each grade level of certification as required by the State of California, which includes some course work in the area of assignment. License/Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid C.P.R. certificate; Possession of a Grade I, II, or III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board; a Class B driver license within 18 months of employment is required. A full Job Description is available for review utilizing the link below: Job Description URL: Ideal Candidate Our ideal Plant Operator I/II/III candidate is expected to hit the ground running with these essential skills and knowledge: Possess a practical understanding of Activated Sludge Wastewater treatment, BNR, and solids handling processes. Possess technical knowledge of treatment processes, techniques, and applicable safety practices, and tools and materials used in wastewater treatment facilities. Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience, including working in a lead position. Ability to perform equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, with the ability to use maintenance management software and comfortably utilize current technology. Health Insurance: Coverage available as early as 1st of the month following start date. A variety of PPO and HMO plans are available through the CalPERS Health Program. After the City contribution of $149 per month and up to $2,094.64 per month in “Simiflex Dollars,” Health insurance costs the employee $0 to $374.90 per month for family coverage depending on plan chosen. “Simiflex Dollars” can be used to offset the cost of medical, dental, and/or vision insurance, or other optional benefits. Medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts are also available. Prescription Drug Plan: Major retail options and mail order program. Dental Insurance: After the City contribution of up to $97.36 per month, Dental insurance from Delta Dental costs the employee $0 per month for family coverage depending on plan chosen. Vision Insurance: After the City contribution of $21.00 per month, Vision insurance from VSP costs the employee $1.46 per month for family coverage. Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential counseling and referral service to help employees and their household members resolve personal problems, provided by MHN. Optional Insurance from AFLAC: Available plans include accident, cancer, hospital and critical care. Paid Leave: 208 hours per year of paid time off (one bank of time that combines vacation and sick leave) which has the option to be cashed out. Accruals increase at 5 years and 10 years of service. 11 paid holidays per year and one floating holiday per year. Employee & Dependent Life Insurance Plans provided at City expense.
