Your 100% right on point. There is no loyalty at all with band members and also the booking agents. These motherfuckers tear bands apart and think nothing of putting someone out of work and all for the goal of putting more commissions in their pockets. I have been in lots of bands where band members do exactly like you described. Talk shit about another member but when they see them at a gig act like they are their best friend. Man up and have some balls and just be honest with other players instead of being a mangina and letting others do your dirty work. As far as the agents go there is no hope for them at all. They all think they know what the right thing to do is when in reality don't have a fucking clue. I don't know who is worse. The cut throat musicians or the on the take agents!
