If you like the early rock songs of 1957-63 and the memories they spark, Bill Cohen has just the right concert for you on Friday August 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm
He’ll be singing hit songs made famous by the likes of Ricky Nelson, the Everly Brothers, Sam Cooke, Paul Anka, Chubby Checker, Fabian, the Drifters, and others. A brief salute to the “bad boys” of early bluesy rock will also be featured – Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, etc.
Beautiful doo-wop background vocals will be added by the all-girl trio, the Harmonettes. Brian Szuch will add amazing lead guitar riffs, and Renilda Marshall will add pulsating bass.
Plus, the audience will have fun, trying to answer trivia questions about 1950’s songs and singers. And, expect a couple surprises.
$15 per person donations are suggested at the door. Proceeds will go to senior programs of the Clintonville Community Resource Center. In other words: this concert features oldies but goodies music for oldies but goodies people.
The concert takes place in the social hall of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N. High Street, Columbus 43214. Plenty of free parking is available in the church lot and on nearby streets.
