Position Overview: The equipment Operator/Railcar Technician candidate will be required to safely inspect, repair, operate, and maintain railroad equipment to insure safe and efficient service to our customers. Candidate will be expected to assist in all areas needed, performing a wide range of tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy. Report any necessary repairs to supervisor, as needed. Inspect, unload, load, distribute, pick-up, install cross ties, other track material and ballast. Cut and dispose of vegetation. Clean debris from switches and bridges by mechanical means. Remove snow or other foreign materials from track infrastructure. Use a variety of tools including, but not limited to: pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks and cutting torches safely and proficiently. Accurate and timely reporting as required. Communicate professionally and effectively. Possess the ability to be self-motivated and meet expectations with minimal supervision. Must acquire a comprehensive understanding of track authority. Comply with performance metrics measurements and deadlines. Practice safe work habits and follow company and industry policies, procedures, and regulations. Respond promptly to any accident, incident, or emergency call. Demonstrate reliable, and punctual attendance with a strong work ethic and a clean work history. Must be available to work varies hours/days: Nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to perform duties that require heavy lifting. Willing to work in all weather conditions Required Education and Experience: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check. Candidate will submit to random drug screenings while employed. Must be able to pass Track Ground School, GCOR Written Test, Roadway Worker Protection Written Test, Fall Protection Written Test, Maintenance of Way Safety Written Test, OSHA Training and Certification. Learn, comprehend, and apply AAR, FRA and Customer requirements. Ability to read and comprehend written safety rules, procedure and safety manuals, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos and other work-related information. Must be Highly-organized and detailed-oriented. Ability to think and act quickly in responding to emergency and non-emergency situations. Demonstrated experience in equipment operation (evaluation during interview process) The ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and without assistance. The ability to work in adverse weather conditions. The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. The ability to sustain mental and visual attention to details for continuous periods of time. Apply online at:
