Doors at 7pm, showtime 8pm After immigrating from Mexico at age five, Jesús grew up in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin, across from a corn field. His house was always filled with music, and he began playing guitar at age 10. By high school he was writing music and performing professionally. For a while Jesús' artistic ambitions took a backseat to other callings as he pursued his higher education on the East Coast, North Carolina, and even London. He built a career in human resources law and diversity advocacy. But he never left music far behind. Jesús wrote and composed several musical theater productions before forming a new band in 2008 (Jesús still performs around the Milwaukee area with The Front Porch Rockers). In 2017 Jesús reinvigorated his songwriting pursuits when he co-founded the Kangaroo Lake Songwriters Collective. He began writing and recording new material, started Dad's Red Chair Music publishing company, and in August 2020 he released The Lone Pine Sessions, his first solo EP - performed and recorded by himself in his basement and at a friend's cabin. Jesús continues his professional career protecting workers' rights. But he also continues to write, perform, record, and release original music. He hosts livestream concerts on his social media, and continues to coach other songwriters. He is a Wisconsin Music Ventures Green Room member, and was a featured artist on Wisconsin's Amplified Artists Series in May 2021. He has been featured on the Wisconsin Music Podcast, and his songs have been played on local radio in Milwaukee and other cities. // The love of rockabilly began for Bruce in 1983 after seeing a concert by the Stray Cats. This was a life changing experience as he found the live performance to be incredibly intoxicating. Fast forward twenty six years and he is opening for the Stray Cats lead singer, Brian Setzer, in sold out shows along the east coast. Bruce’s latest band, The Rockabilly Rebels, has been finding regional success with area festivals along with local and international radio play. Backed by guitarist Lorenzo Ripani, bassist John Steffes and drummer Kurt Weber, this Milwaukee based band plays original, high-octane rockabilly that the Shepard Express describes as ‘humming along with a dark, driving, blues energy’. www.brucehumphries.com $10 adv/ $15 at the door (advance sales until 3pm day of show, then available at the door).
