All ages, all abilities and identities welcome! Bomba is a musical tradition of Boriken, the island currently known as Puerto Rico, and reflects the powerful forces that shaped the island’s history since the 16th Century. Through these workshops you will learn basic Bomba movements, songs, instrumentation and how and why this art form was created. Our Bomba workshop presenter, Eli “Lady” Pabon, is a multi-talented dancer, singer, lyricist, educator, percussionist, founder of Boston-based Bomba project BOMBAntillana. Born and raised in Boston to a Puerto Rican family of performers and educators, she grew up learning the importance of music and dance in health, education, healing, resistance, and community-building. suggested donation/cost per workshop date: $20 (adults/18+) $5 (under 18)
