This August 23rd event will provide details about the workcamp, show how to help a resident apply for FREE home repairs, and give you and your organization ideas on how to get involved. We look forward to seeing you on August 23rd. 2023 Springfield Mission Trip - June 25 – July 1, 2023 At Group Workcamps, hundreds of teenagers from youth groups across the country repair and transform homes while deepening their faith and building new relationships with their peers and youth leaders. These teens will complete FREE home repair projects for elderly, disabled, low-income and veteran Springfield residents. What type of projects are eligible for the FREE home repair? Interior and exterior painting, wheelchair ramp construction, deck/porch/step repair or replacement and more! If there is a need – just ASK – we may be able to accommodate. No plumbing or electric work is allowed. See your local church OR contact the Nehemiah Foundation for an application. How can you get involved and help? Pass out applications: help spread the word that life changing FREE home repair is available for our elderly, disabled, low-income and veterans! Time: volunteers will be needed for the setup week June 18-24; and for the Workcamp week June 25 – July 1. Volunteers can do anything from deliver ladders, hand out treats to youth returning from worksites, or answer questions about our city. Expertise: review applications; escort Group team members as they visit potential worksites/photograph/ create project work descriptions; help project managers guide the youth as they complete the projects during the actual Workcamp. Ladders: the teams will need a large number and variety of ladders to complete the work around the city. Will you loan your ladder(s) to the cause for a week? Donations: Cookies and bars – we will need approximately 300 dozen treats for our youth and adult guests, can you contribute? Does your business have a special treat to share with the youth? or discounts for their “fun” afternoon on Wednesday? All hospitality ideas are welcomed!
