During this half-day retreat, we’ll open to the intimacy of being in the present moment which arises in silence, solitude, and sacred pauses. You’re welcome to join us in grounding, healing, and connecting with the deepest parts of ourselves to awaken our senses. We’ll use nature and the elemental surroundings as a mirror to recenter us in stillness. There will be short mindfulness meditations, sound therapy, ecotherapy, mindful walking, a delicious lunch, and insight reflections. It’s a harmonious weaving of indoor, internal practices and nature, land-based contemplative practices supporting us through the day. These cathartic retreats offer a doorway to awakening our senses, and intuition, restoring to our natural state of being, reconnecting with our inner source, and opening a wild stream of creative insight to nourish our human psyche. No previous experience is necessary Provided I’ll have disposible eye masks for sound experience, meditation cushions for sitting, tea, hot water, nuts, fruit, and fresh-baked Artisian bread available during breaks until lunch. Items to bring Yoga mat, blanket, small head pillow, hat, sunscreen, walking shoes, pen, journal Sonoma Mountain Zen Center The Sonoma Mountain Zen Center is a Soto Zen practice center located on 80 beautiful acres in the mountainous region of Sonoma County in California—near Santa Rosa—carrying on the tradition and lineage of Shunryu Suzuki. It is surrounded by lush acres of forests and parks. It is also centered within 425 wineries in the county. An hour East to the coast of Bodega Bay or South to SF. The hilltop center provides a serene environment for retreats overlooking Coast Miwok and Pomo land. During the retreat, there will be time to walk to the land, journal insights, and explore the beautiful gardens of the Zen Center. Lunch: A delicious organic lunch is available or you’re welcome to bring your lunch. Please add it to the ticket option. Retreat Fees: $95 before July 18th / $115 after. COVID vaccination is required, please send a photo of the card to [email protected]. Masks optional. If you wish to stay at Sonoma Mountain Zen Center before or after the retreat, accommodations may be available. Reservations can be made by calling 707-545-8105. About Meditation Teacher Taylor Tessendore is a founder, creative director, therapist, retreat guide and soul activist who has studied mindfulness meditation practices for almost two decades after being introduced to eastern spirituality at the age of fourteen. She explored her internal world during a year-long retreat disconnecting from the marketplace to deepen her practice by spending months in noble silence. Taylor has trained with western teachers such as Jack Kornfield in several traditions, including Zen and Theravada. She holds a mindfulness certification from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master's of Science in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy. Bridging Eastern and Western practices, she integrates transpersonal psychology, Buddhist psychology, neuroscience, yoga, meditation, and deep ecology into her collaborative approach. She specializes in Spiritually Transformative Experiences (STEs), helping people transition post-retreat to integrate their experiences into daily life, and those seeking solace around death. Taylor is seasoned in cultivating and designing sacred spaces to turn inward through ritual opening our connection, nourishing our bodies, and releasing a river of creative energy.
