Formed in the Summer of 2019, San Diego-based, 16-piece Latin powerhouse Maracuyá specializes in presenting highly energetic Afro-Latin Pop music. Led by percussionist Diego Velasquez, Maracuyá is composed of well-established Latin music heavyweights who, along with performing and touring nationally and internationally, are active members in the San Diego communities. Adriana Primavera of Saoko, is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Her music is a fusion of Cuban Son and Bossa Nova with other rhythms from Latin America; combined with hip hop and funk resulting in a truly unique style of Latin music. Her group, Saoko, will be joining Maracuyá at their Summertime Fiesta. DJ Saul Timba will be providing the Latin soundtrack to Maracuyá's Summertime Fiesta playing Timba, Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, and Reggaeton. Josh Gorden is one of San Diego's premier dance instructors. Josh started dancing Salsa in 2007 and studied under Eddie Torres Sr in New York City. Josh started "Salsa On the Beach" in New Jersey in 2012, to unite different dance communities and dancers of all skill levels. He continues that vision today in San Diego. Josh's "Salsa On the Beach" recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary. Josh's focus is on Afro-Cuban Rumba, body movement, and timba fusion while maintaining a deep respect for the traditional dance customs of the Yoruba people. Josh will be hosting a short "dance along" class at Maracuyá's Summertime Fiesta.
