Description

We are super excited to announce that after a successful Homeschool Prom earlier this year; we have decided to put together another event for our local (NC and VA) homeschoolers. Please join for our first Homeschool Harvest Ball and Fundraiser at The Barn in beautiful Dobson, NC. This event will be similar to prom in that there will be food, dancing (mostly group and line dancing), and an opportunity for students to socialize with friends. But, this event will also be quite different in that this will be a fundraiser as well as teaching opportunity for students (I promise it will be loads of fun!) This event will be well chaperoned and monitored by parent volunteers, and the music provided will be carefully selected prior to the event and supervised ( students will have the opportunity to request songs throughout the evening). So here are the details: Event Attire: Semi-Formal/Sunday Best (Young men are permitted to wear jeans, khaki slacks or dress slacks with an appropriate shirt; t-shirts are not permitted) and (Young ladies should select a modest outfit/dress/skirt. Skirts and dresses should be at least knee length. Long dresses with slits will need for slits to be sewn together above the knee. Please make sure tops are modest and do not expose unnecessary cleavage and chest. I highly recommend and encourage straps on all dresses and tops as students will be moving around a great deal; having fun and dancing.) Any student arriving with inappropriate attire will be kindly asked to return home to change or we will have a select number of items for them to choose from that they may wear for the remainder of the evenings events. Time: 6-9pm We will begin check-in at 5:45pm, but students will not be allowed to enter the venue until 6pm Ages: This event will be for homeschoolers only and will be for ages 14-19 Location: The Barn at Heritage Farms in Dobson, NC Fundraiser: Each student attending will have the opportunity to donate non-perishable food items while checking in. For each item donated; students will receive a ticket that will be used for prize drawings throughout the evening. All collected food items will be donated to local food banks and shelters. We hope to make a huge impact and difference in our community by providing this service. Dancing: This event will be slightly different from prom in that there will be various opportunities throughout the evening for guided instruction on different dancing styles from reels to line dances. The evening will consist of both guided instruction as well as plenty of free dance time. I promise; this will be very interesting and lots of fun ;) If parents have any further questions or concerns; please contact me (Bethany Luther) at 336-972-0276 or you may email directly using the Eventbrite platform.
