Description

Looking for Queer participants for a ten-week Drama Therapy workshop that will be made into a documentary. The therapeutic process and interviews of participants will be filmed. This is offered under a community mental health umbrella at no charge. Participants must sign a release form and commit to the entire series. The project begins on July 19th ending September 13th. In-person location near Rockridge BART Oakland, Tuesdays 5:30 to 8:30. Looking for people who have had at least some therapy and have a good support system as some aspects of the process will be highly experiential. This might be challenging for some. Acting, improvisation, and psychodramatic techniques will be used. However, no previous acting experience is necessary. Shy people are welcome. BIPOC people, and participants of all ages, including young adults, middle-aged folks, and elders, are encouraged to apply. The process will involve experiential techniques that will deconstruct gender, identity, oppression, and how we internalize the spoken and unspoken messages from family, school, and society.
