The State of The Transportation System: with and without additional funding Hillsborough TPO Executive Director Beth AldenMaintaining and upgrading roads to current standards is a challenge countywide. Current transportation funding is inadequate to ensure a state of good repair and meaningfully reduce crash rates, much less to upgrade technology, expand access to transit and walk/bike transportation, or widen highways. The “It’s TIME Hillsborough” 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan, adopted in 2019, included two funding scenarios: one with and one without the 1% surtax for transportation approved by Hillsborough County’s voters in 2018. The one-cent sales tax would have made a significant difference in performance outcomes in all categories. With the possibility of another transportation tax this year, a refresher on transportation system conditions and performance forecasts will be provided. Cost $12 -- Breakfast Included Park/Walk/Ride Parking is now open. The construction around Oxford has been completed. In the spirit of urbanism we encourage you to walk or ride using resources from the Tampa Downtown Partnership, Walk Bike Tampa, HART and Coast Bike Share. Please join us. No membership required. Please also do not attend if you or a close associate have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or if you have traveled within 14 days. Food Service -- The buffet will be served by food service staff (who are sanitizing and wearing masks). Food Selection -- The food choices will vary as staff experiments with better ways to serve us during this time. The super simple sandwich is included. Price -- Oxford Exchange will keep the price the same. It's $12 ($10 for food and $2 for tips). We thank them for their continued support to make this affordable. Eventbrite may also charge their own service fee. Tickets -- Tickets are limited and can be purchased in advance (see Eventbrite link above). Payment can also be made at the door if we have not reached capacity. Capacity Limits -- To allow for social distancing, there will be a limit of 60 people at each in person event. Seating -- Seating will be spread throughout the room to allow for social distancing but masks are encouraged while you are seated. Sanitizer -- Oxford Exchange has sanitizer stations but please also bring your own. Scholarships Café con Tampa® is an inclusive organization and we want everyone to feel welcomed.
