Job Summary The Grounds Keeper 1 position assists with creating and maintaining our beautiful campus. This position requires attention to detail, physical labor, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team. Position Duties & Responsibilities Turf Management: Mowing, edging, fertilization, weed control. Tree Maintenance: Pruning of small ornamental trees. Fall leaf cleanup in turf, borders, walkways, and parking areas. Shrub borders: Pruning and maintenance of ornamental and flowering shrubs including topiary. Annual and Perennial Bedding: Maintenance of an extensive collection of flowering perennials. Fertilization and Integrated Pest Management: Establish and maintain for soil and plant health, as appropriate to the managed species. Irrigation Systems: Operate campus irrigation systems to optimize plant health and efficient water usage. Repair, design, and install irrigation systems as needed. Equipment (Operation, Service, and Repair): Operate the wide variety of power equipment and hand tools used in grounds maintenance safely and effectively Hardscapes and Sidewalks: Regular sweeping, moss control and pressure washing Litter Patrol and Parking Lot Sweeping: Collect litter to maintain a clean and tidy campus. Sweeping of parking lots for leaves and organic debris as required. Snow Removal: Assist with effective snow and ice removal during inclement weather, including operation of snow removal equipment. Landscape Installation: Purchase and install landscape plantings using appropriate techniques. Other duties as assigned, including assisting the maintenance department with setups and projects.
