Responsibilities include aiding in the install, maintenance and repair of telecommunication facilities. You will be working and assisting the Foreman/Lineman. As a Groundhand you will gain on the job knowledge of the following: aerial lift devices, utility lines, poles, and the functionality of each. With the growing company you will have the opportunity to advance to the next position roles such as a Lineman Apprentice. Groundhand job training: Will learn safety and traffic regulations. Operate hand and power tools of all types. Assist with installation fiber optic cable, handholes and gathering tools. Clean and prepare sites. Assist with the direction of traffic flow in accordance with local D.O.T. guidelines. Will be taught gradually how to interpret/read construction prints. Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Education/Work Experience to expect: Excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to effectively take direction. Will be working under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion. Valid Driver’s License (preferred), CDL Class A or Class B (preferred), DOT Med card (preferred). OSHA 10 & 30 Certifications (preferred not required). Workplace & Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully. Candidate must possess the ability to communicate clearly. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and crouch for extended periods. Work is performed both inside and outside environments under all weather conditions, on rugged terrains.
