Description

After two years of pandemic-induced hiatus, a lot has changed for our world and BuddhaCamp. We need to replace a lot of our infrastructure that has rusted out, broken, or is unavailable this year. This reality plus the highest, fastest growing, inflation hike in the US since the 1980s, making food and gas prices soar, has majorly blown our budget. This event is a fundraiser to cover the increased cost of our camp truck, groceries, and storage that has increased our annual budget by a total of about $3K. Please join us at the Adam’s Street Boat Launch at Seward Park for a fun-filled afternoon of yoga, dancing, great music by some stellar live DJs, and breakfast beverages (cold brew coffee, mimosas, and bloody marys). Help us bring love, community, and healing to the citizens of Black Rock City this year! We have incredibly talented local DJs who have donated their time and talent to the cause! Lineup: 1:00-2:00pm: All-Levels Yoga with Rose and music by JOY 2pm-2:20pm: JOY B2B Mz ArTiz 2:20-3:20pm: Mz ArTiz 3:20pm-3:40pm: Mz ArTiz B2B hOM 3:40-4:40pm hOM 4:40-5:00pm: hOM B2B Mz ArTiz Location: Adam’s Street Boat Launch at Seward Park has ample space, free parking, and a porta potty. Beverages Available to Purchase: We will be serving cold brew coffee, mimosas, and bloody marys. Drinks will be pre-made and available to purchase at the event. We will accept cash, Venmo, CashApp and PayPal. Please be mindful that this is a public park, so, if you plan to consume alcohol, we ask that you bring your own discreet cup to do so. We will have a limited supply of sippy cups to purchase for $2 on site for anyone who forgets. Those who donate at the “Buddha” ticket tier will receive a sterling silver playa cup mug with karabiner handle and our logo lotus with words engraved “BuddhaCamp at the Lotus Dome Est. 2007.” About BuddhaCamp: BuddhaCamp was founded in 2007 by a small group of SGI Buddhist friends. Who wanted to bring chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo and the Buddhist philosophy of “Human Revolution: that every person has an innate Buddha-nature and can reach their full potential in this lifetime, while experiencing the life condition of a Buddha: internal happiness and peace that is unaffected by external circumstances.”Since then, we have created a safe sanctuary space, loving community, friend-family burner vibe where campers and burners can rest, share vulnerably, and feel accepted and supported. We offer daily spiritual offerings in our Lotus Dome that include chanting, yoga, Refuge Recovery, Vipassana meditation, and workshops such as Mindful Movement, ‘Ask a Buddhist’ Spiritual Life Coaching, Taking off the Masks of the Patriarchy, and more. We also offer our Lotus Lounge: a relaxing café environment with daily coffee and tea service and community vibes. This year we are being incredibly mindful about offering our space for people to find rest, support, and self-actualization and are heavily invested in the Burning Man principle of Radical Inclusion. To us, Radical Inclusion means making our camp welcoming, affordable, and accessible to People of Color (BIPOC), Queer folks (LGBTQI), artists, healthcare workers, healers, service industry workers, and virgin burners. Cannot make it but still want to support our mission? Please donate to our GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/679b974e We thank you in advance with deep gratitude, good karma, full belly Buddha laughs, and dusty hugs! About your Yoga Instructor: Rose fell in love with yoga when she began practicing regularly to relieve stress during social work graduate school in 2009. Inspired to add yoga to her therapeutic work with clients, she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2013. Rose began her teaching career in a women’s prison which gave her the unique privilege of teaching students with various ability levels from a wide range of backgrounds. This taught her to meet students where they are with a trauma-informed approach and inspired her to be highly creative and accessible in her sequencing. Her classes are intuitive, athletic, down-to-earth and, strike a balance between flexibility and strength with fluid, graceful transitions inspired by her childhood training in modern dance and ballet. She has taught at several festivals, including Burning Man, Base Camp, and RE:BIRTH, as well as several smaller events accompanied by live DJs and Sound Healing. She loves helping make these events magical and helping participants open their hips and hearts.
