Description
I was denied service from a major auto club after being a member for 35 years.
All I needed was for them to jump start my vehicle but the towing company that came to my house insisted that they scan my driver's license before they would provide service!
When I showed them my license and refused to let them scan it so they could glean ALL the private info contained on it, they refused service.
After they left I spoke to an auto club supervisor who refused to give me his last name and told me that my right to privacy, guaranteed by the 4th amendment, only applies to government entities!
I've since discovered that other businesses, such as some grocery stores, require you to surrender your driver's license to be scanned before certain purchases.
I'd like to know your thoughts on this.
