Description
We're about to embark on our 6th WSW meet up. I'm so amazed at the growth and how they have naturally evolved with each host. This month, we’ll be hosted by the wonderful Nan Chaison of Mestizo. She is also inviting Chef Luna Contreras of Chelo to provide dessert. These two women have collaborated many times before. You all are in for a real WSW treat. There will be a set menu (vegan or fish) + dessert + a no host bar. Through the generous donations from the community, we've crowdfunded enough money from our Treat a Boss GoFundMe campaign to host up to 60 bosses and we're still fundraising to get dessert covered as well. If you know someone who can support, please share the link. July is our half year mark of this series. Those who know Nan are easily inspired by the way she approaches business. She is a big believer in community and WSW. Much of what I do today is because I know Nan. This is why we thought it would be fun to get all who have hosted a WSW Event on one panel sharing what WSW means to them. February - Nikeisah Newton of Meals 4 HeelsMarch - Trang Nguyen of Friendship KitchenApril - Erica Montgomery of Erica's Soul FoodMay - Katelyn Williams of Kate's Ice CreamJune - Judith Stokes of DerbyJuly - Nan Chaison of Mestizo and Kati PortlandJenny Dinh Safransky, owner of JDS projects, has graciously offered to moderate the hour discussion and Jessica Vanterpool from Fli Social will be capturing the event. You don't want to miss this one. Come get fed and inspired! June's meet up was such a success. Let's keep these connections going all year long. *************************** BACKGROUND PDX Indie Restaurants and Women Founders can benefit from a little community support. So we came up with an idea to combine the two under the collective power of Women Supporting Women (WSW). Gathering on the last Wednesday of every month, we hope to bring business to a woman-owned restaurant and be in community with other founders on our lunch hour. This invitation is for *business owners only. Thank you for your understanding. *The intent of these meetups are to connect true business owners together so they can strengthen their relationships with others struggling through entrepreneurship. Business ownership isn’t for everyone and the folx attending are a certain subset of our community. Of course we are also treating them to an afternoon and much needed break, but the conversations center mostly around navigating this journey and knowledge sharing with other women. We don’t want to exclude folx looking for connection, but at the same time we want to hold onto the integrity of what this is. It truly is a rare and important space. If you feel this is you, you are welcome. If you don’t, I invite you to make a donation to the Treat a Boss GoFundMe campaign to show your support. 1 ticket per customer. Ticket sales are nonrefundable and go toward ALIST, a Filipina-Woman Owned consultancy organizing the event. After the event, we'll share contact information with all who registered to make meeting up again even easier.
