People’s Street Learning Lab will meet at Li Wah Restaurant (2999 Payne Avenue) Wednesday, July 20th, from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. We will start with a walk and then come back to the restaurant’s side room for a discussion. About People’s Streets: People’s Streets Cleveland is a grassroots initiative run by volunteers from varying backgrounds who came together to create streets that better serve people. We envision creating connections between diverse neighborhoods, safer streets for all ages and modes of travel, and welcoming places where people embrace their full humanities. Starting with the Payne Avenue corridor, we will reimagine a more vibrant street. About the Learning Lab: This interactive Learning Lab will be led by People’s Streets’ volunteers. The Learning Lab will start with a walking tour where you will see firsthand the temporary installations that created an enhanced experience for all modes of transportation along Payne Avenue. You will learn what the temporary installations are and the impact that they have on Payne Avenue and pedestrians. The tour will end with a fireside chat at 2999 Payne Avenue where the People’s Streets’ volunteers will talk through the design, licenses, permits, and approvals, and implementation process. By the end of the Learning Lab, you will be able to bring your vision to fruition in your own neighborhood! Special guests will include a group of neighbor-leaders as well as Slavic Village Development staff who tackle street safety in Slavic Village.
