Community mosaic project with The Mosaic Workshop and Raasin in the Sun at Something Cool Studios! In collaboration with Philadelphia Mural Arts Institute, using public art as a vehicle to highlight important environmental justice initiatives in Austin past and present. Inspired by PODER’s tireless work against tank farms, pollution, and the disproportionately negative effects of climate change in Austin’s communities of color, we hope to shine a light on those who have and are still paving the way for a better, more equitable environment for us all. Come help us create a glass tile stepping stone mosaic. Looking for volunteers to come in hourlong blocks to complete tile placement. The Mosaic Workshop will facilitate the artwork and partner orgs will be present to answer questions and network to continue the fight against ongoing local environmental injustices. Sign up for a time slot on Eventbrite. The process will be held Indoors and is not messy at all! Water and light refreshments will be provided. Masks are not required however highly recommended.
