Description
Walking To Fix Our Democracy - www.fixourdemocracy.us - is a national effort to collaborate with local, state and national activists and organizations en-route to engage, activate, and support people to fix our democracy, and walk and advocate in their own communities to do so. It's sparked by Rick Hubbard who, joined and supported by others, will begin walking in Los Angeles about October 1st, 2022 and finish with an event at the steps of our Capitol in Washington D.C. about 16 months later. It seeks volunteers for the walk support team. ARE YOU GOOD AT CREATING SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS AND DISSEMINATING THEM? If so, want to join WALKING TO FIX OUR DEMOCRACY to help incite patriotic citizens to stand up, advocate, pressure our representatives and march within their own communities to fix our democracy? You’ll have much independence, and responsibility for handling daily social media effectively, plus you’ll travel with, and be a key member of the support RV team. In addition to helping our country at a critical moment for our democracy, if done well, it could jumpstart a career. It’s a plus, if you’re able to drive, or learn to drive, our RV support vehicle if needed. See photo: ARE YOU BOTH A GOOD ORGANIZER AND RV SAVVY PERSON? If so, want to join WALKING TO FIX OUR DEMOCRACY to help incite patriotic citizens to stand up, advocate, pressure our representatives and march within their own communities to fix our democracy? You’ll be a key part of the walk support team, be in charge of driving and maintaining the RV, coordinating with other team members, orienting notable visitors, and organizing and supporting those who choose to meet and walk with us in greater numbers as we approach cities and towns where events are scheduled. Join us to help our country at a critical moment for our democracy. Walking to Fix Our Democracy has several purposes: • to raise awareness about the need, and ways, to fix our democracy; • to link up with, celebrate, and support state and local activist efforts along the route; • to encourage short walks for the same purpose on specific, coordinated dates in communities across America; and • to encourage candidates for Congress and other levels of government to make fixing our democracy their lead issue in order to save us from autocracy, plus unlock progress on every other important issue affecting us all. Our team will make the case that fixing our democracy first is the quickest and most effective way to avoid autocracy and unlock progress on every other issue important to us all: climate change; health care; education; infrastructure; voting rights; financial protections; consumer protections; and much, much more.
