Description
This wasn't your name, of course. But you gave me Disney eyes, when I said it - doe eyes besides. Saucers the size of the moon - with all of the gravity I'd ever need! Your brows tilted upward, the most majestic peak of a mountain top that I or any man who has ever fallen in love has ever scaled: "That's the sweetest thing that anyone's ever said to me."
You were lovely. Brunette and warm, comely and Christly. Smelling of coffee beans and taking up space in my dreams.
But I was Beast. Fat and failed, in life and love. Down on my luck and down in my spirits. So drown them I did in the mornings. Stuttering out the same old tired one-liners, scared to give too much away:
"Hey, good, you?"
"Yeah just the usual. Thanks!"
But it was always you I'd come back to. Steeling myself in the warehouse, the box truck, out on the town in the 100 degree heat or the cracking, quiet cold. I'm half the man I was then but in some ways ten times that now! And, oh, Belle, I'd sure love to share that with you. I'd sure love to share myself with you. I'd sure love to share some time with you.
