SANTA CLARA (CBS SF/AP) — A pair of high ankle sprains ripped away the 2020 season for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. It's the second season Garoppolo missed due to injury, yet to the surprise of many critics, head coach Kyle Shanahan said this week he's sticking with the 29-year-old quarterback.
"I do believe Jimmy's going to be our quarterback next year," Shanahan said at a press conference this week.
Shanahan added that nothing in the NFL is completely certain and the Niners will do what it takes to build the best roster possible this offseason.
