Enrichment classes for homeschoolers/ independent study learners

Hello! So glad you happened upon my post! I am starting a microschool with enrichment classes which will be comprised of small group classes for grades 4-8 in Castro Valley from my home. If you are new to homeschooling or are looking for classes where your student can not only grow academically but also grow new friendships in a safe and fun environment this might be a good fit for you. Classes will be held at my house 1-2 days per week starting in the middle of August; tentatively August 16 as the start date. Just throwing this out there to see if there is an interest. Send me an email with questions to see if we are a good fit for each other. Here is an example schedule: Morning Meeting- 9am-9:15 This will include talking about our schedule and doing a little Spanish warm up. Math 9:15-10 Students will either bring their math curriculum with them and work on that while I answer any questions. I can help with curriculum questions if you haven’t picked a math program. We will also do hands on math activities and games. Snack break 10-10:15 ELA (English Language Arts) 10:15-11 Readers theater, writing, Social studies topics, logic Spanish! 11-11:50 My style of teaching Spanish is through comprehensible input, songs, games, stories, and so much fun!! Lunch 11:50-12:30 Students will bring lunch from home and we will eat in the backyard or in the park, weather permitting. Special Projects: Science/ PE/ Art - TBD 12:30 Example: Make your own vermicomposting bin Learn all about decomposers, especially worms Save garbage from going in landfill A little about me: I’ve been into sports all my life and even played at the college level. I love gardening and making learning come alive with my students. I hold my k-12 multiple subject teaching credential and a single subject credential authorizing me to teach Spanish. I also have my masters in education and have spent some time teaching adult learners their methodology courses for their credential program. We are located near Creekside Middle School and our house backs up to Earl Warren Park.
