Sara EvansPresented by DC Concert Ministries & 104.7 FM WAYZALL AGES Sara Evans Sara Evans & Her Copy That Tour, Summer 2022 Award-winning, multi-platinum Country Music powerhouse Sara Evans performs her latest album, Copy That, at The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown, MD, on Thursday, September 22. It's been more than two years since Sara's last area performance, so we expect a healthy portion of fan favorites during her new set. We expect the most captivating evening performances to come from Sara's live renditions of songs from her recent full-length studio album. It's a cover album aptly named Copy That. Cover album? Did I say that? That's right, I did! It's not just another cover album, I assure you. Not when you've got one of Nashville's brightest and most talented artists in the driver's seat. Sara's purpose for this album is to introduce these songs to newer generations to experience after they'd long served as soundtracks for the American experience over the last six decades. Perhaps a new generation might gain from having experienced them, just as they influenced Sara's life and career. Sara's choices for "Copy That" serve as a soundtrack for life whose songs emit a power that enables us to form deeper connections with the elements that make up our world. These songs have possessed a particular ability to compel and motivate millions over the past six decades. At the same time, these songs keep us firmly rooted in the wake of all the countless life-changing events experienced by generations of Americans - permanently fusing their relationships with the world around them. However, I'd like to know how the heck did Sara narrow what I view as an extensive inventory of options down to thirteen songs? Reflecting on my teenage anxiety over which tunes I should include on a mixed tape, I'm ashamed. It's hard to imagine such a daunting task. But enough with the heavy. Most important for you to know now is that Sara accomplished her goal by releasing Copy That. The final product pays tribute to definitive classics from across musical genres while simultaneously delivering a fun, sing-along experience anyone will enjoy! What's better than a playlist covering the quintessential anthems of young adults from the 1960s, 1970s, and beyond? Fans of popular music, nostalgia, and karaoke nights will have a blast alongside Sara's and country music's die-hards. Here's to hoping Sara's planning a follow-up in 2023! In the meantime, let's see who's down with joining me and the D.C. Concerts crew for some reminiscing about Sara's set on September 22! As the fifth most-played female artist at country radio in nearly the last two decades — her five No. 1 singles include “No Place That Far,” “Suds In The Bucket, “A Real Fine Place To Start,” “Born to Fly,” and “A Little Bit Stronger,” which spent 2 weeks in the top spot and was certified platinum by the R.I.A.A. Sara’s “stunning, country voice” (Rolling Stone) has earned her the prestigious Academy of Country Music Top Female vocalist accolade as well as numerous American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Country Music Association, CMT and Grammy Awards nominations. In addition, the CMA awarded Video of the Year honors for her hit chart-topping single, "Born to Fly" from her landmark double-platinum album of the same name. Sara has continued to forge her bold, creative path with Copy That, which opened at #1 on the iTunes Country chart, released on her own Born To Fly Records on May 15, 2020. The 13-song collection, spanning six decades, showcased Evans’ distinctive creative stamp on some of the most iconic songs in country and pop music, songs that have inspired her life and career, as well as shining a spotlight on some little-known gems. Copy That follows her critically acclaimed Words, which debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart in 2017. Last year brought album and touring collaborations with her children, Avery and Olivia Barker, for The Barker Family Band. Sara released her memoir, Born To Fly, on September 8, 2020 through Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Named after her landmark double-platinum album, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, Born To Fly finds Evans opening up and sharing stories not only about her career and what it is like living in the spotlight, but about what inspires her and how her faith keeps her strong.
