Description
I have a senior Dalmatian who is very sick. She's 14 and in kidney failure. I'm getting to the point I don't know how to help.. It's been four years now caretaking, she's a rescue and they didn't tell me she was so sick. I'm on public assistance, disabled, I don't have the money for a fancy vet and the ASPCA say they don't take care of big things like surgery or cancer. I don't know if surgery will even help. I'm just beside myself trying to take care of her. She's always sick, when I get her over it she's sick again. I'm afraid if I give her up no one will take care if her and will just put her down. She needs a lot of care. She needs all day care. She's close to incontinent. She needs an indoor potty and someone to take her there 4 - 8 times a day. She also goes for walks, twice a day. She has accidents even with this, and sometimes wears diapers. She has a hard time keeping weight on, keeping food down. I have so much dog food in the house and she eats, but then is sick. I keep trying new dog foods but nothing works. She has arthritis and can't walk very far but thinks she can and over does it. I do everything for her, sometimes take her to drink water, she doesn't want to be alone. She has to drink a special tea or she is full blown incontinent and gets kidney stones. I just don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone suggest some place that can help me?
She's happy and acts like a puppy when she isn't sick and even when she is sometimes. I don't want to give her up, I hate the idea and think it's horrid to do... I just need help. I don't want to put her down. I want what's best for her, whatever that is, alive happy and healthy. Any suggestion is welcome.
Thanks.
