Are you looking for more than PB&J sandwiches for the kids’ school lunch? This is the class for you! Join food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley as we explore different approaches to making packed lunches and after-school snacks. You will put together different sandwiches and protein options, built a bento box, and learn how to make a few hot lunches that can survive a morning at school. A good portion of the class is discussion based and provides many recipes, fun combinations, storage suggestions, and some global options. We will also make healthy bulk snacks that can be made in advance for after school to take home. This class is meant for parents of children who might be OK eating outside of the usual pizza, chicken fingers, and pancake school lunches or those who want to encourage the kids to explore new tastes. If you have a favorite lunchbox, bento box or warm-food container, feel free to bring it along. Grownups can enjoy a glass of wine during class.
