Changes of the Body during pregnancy Especially during the 2nd half of pregnancy it happens often that woman struggle with pain in their lower back body. Main cause as increased bodyweight changes of the posture and perhaps water retention are straining ligaments, muscles and along with it the spine. Babys space requirement forces internal organs to shift. As a result constricted nerves can cause sciatic pain for example. In preparation for postpartum time the breast will grow and raise its weight - its an unaccumstomed load - shoulders are pulled back and the upper body falls forward forming a hollow cross. Muscles around the Shoulders are tense. The pelvic floor is enormously demanded. A pelvis that has to become very flexible. Hormonal changes are going to help loosen up all ligaments and tissue along with it joints strength is lower . On top the weight gain is a burden to the muscular system. The spinal stability is reduced. A conscious, upright posture during pregnancy is important to e.g. prevent problems in the back!
