On Thursday, July 7th, twenty-four high school students from across the islands arrived at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and officially became Nalukai Founders. With an array of diverse backgrounds, talents, experiences, and perspectives, these Founders form Nalukai Academy Startup Camp's eighth cohort.
In their eleven days at Nalukai, Founders will engage in project based learning and form teams to create solutions for real problems in their communities and lives. They will interact with innovative educators, industry professionals and cultural practitioners to learn and implement principles of social, cultural and commercial entrepreneurship.
Nalukai would like to invite members of the community to celebrate their achievements at a Hōʻike event to showcase Founder projects on Saturday, July 16th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The exhibition will be held in the UH Hilo auditorium (UCB 100) and livestreamed on YouTube. During Hōʻike, the Nalukai cohort will pitch their projects and receive feedback and reflections from attendees and remote members of the Nalukai network.
Founder pitches will be followed by a cohort documentary, project showcase, and an opportunity to connect with and celebrate the Nalukai community and everyone who sustains it.
Please RSVP here to attend in-person or virtually!
