Pittsburgh’s South Side is the ultimate melting pot of Pittsburgh. Join us for an insightful guided walking tour of the South Side Flats. We will explore the national historic Main Street of East Carson, including many ethnic churches, the famous Market House, the Former Duquesne Brewery, The Henry Oliver Bath House and so much more. Learn how the South Side had seventy-six glasswork factories at one point. TOUR HOST BIO: Jay Steele is a retired adjunct Health and Physical Education professor at CCAC. He is a Pittsburgh native born and raised in the Observatory Hill section of the North Side. He currently lives in Ross Township with his wife Carol. He has taught for almost 25 years community walking courses for CCAC, Pitt and CMU Osher. In addition, has given tours for Doors Open Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation. He has developed these walking tours/classes throughout the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County which combines his love of exercise (walking), and Pittsburgh and Allegheny County history and architectural design. TOUR STARTS/ENDS: 10th and East Carson (South High Residences-Old South High) This is a walking tour, up to 2 miles of walking.Photography is allowed. A restroom is available. REFUND POLICY: NO REFUNDS. All sales are final and non-refundable. All DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh events will be held RAIN OR SHINE unless otherwise stated.
