The AJW Summer 2022 Jazz Camp Faculty Jazz Sextet concert will feature a one of a kind inspiring musical dance and interplay of Alaska Jazz Master Artists John Damberg-vibes, steel drum, & keys, Mark Manners-guitar, Rick Zelinsky-saxophone, and Nick Petumenos-guitar & keys with the hot rhythmic grooves of Cameron Cartland on drums and Bob Andrews on bass. The sextet will perform an exciting mix of new original songs in a wide variety of grooves including New Orleans 2nd line funk, Brazilian Samba, Bossa Nova, Cuban Mambo, Cha, Cha, Cha, Trinidadian Calypso, Mainstream Jazz, and Blues for your enjoyment. This is a family friendly concert. This concert is presented in conjunction with the AJW July 25-30, 2022 Summer Jazz Improvisation Camp at the UAA Arts Building, which attracts talented grade 7 through adult music students throughout Alaska. This concert is supported by a generous grant from the Atwood Foundation. Sponsored by the Alaska Jazz Workshop, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit arts and service organization providing jazz education programs and performance opportunities in Alaska celebrating 22 years of service to Alaskans! Face Masks Optional or Recommended depending on Covid-19 Community Levels at the time of concert. AJW follows CDC recommendations.
