Habitat West Inc. in Orange County is seeking to hire a Landscape Foreman to supervise native habitat restoration and maintenance for endangered species of plants and animals throughout Orange County, CA. A clean driving record is required for the foreman position. We are also hiring a number of technicians to conduct habitat restoration and maintenance. Preferred Experience / Qualities: -- Landscape Foreman Experience (Foreman position) -- Love of working hard and in outdoor wildlife area settings -- Love of plants and knowledge of non-native and native plant / animal species -- Ecology, forestry and /or horticulture interest -- Irrigation installation experience . It's also a great way to make an honest living while benefiting the world around you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - An appreciation for the outdoors, an interest in environmental / earth science, and a willingness to learn native ecology is highly desirable. - Our teams go into a variety of local ecosystems and plant communities to help sustain the native plant species while removing non-native plant species. - Plant identification training is provided. - Most of our work is under the federal endangered species act requirements. - Hours are Monday thru Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm at various locations in Orange County. - Crew will meet at construction yard every morning and be driven to work sites - This is hard work, but rewarding. Our scope (s) of work include: -- Weeding by hand around sensitive and endangered plant species -- Use of weed whips in more open areas -- Mechanical Mowing with a walk behind mower -- Barbless fence installation and repair -- Irrigation installation -- Watering -- Planting -- Seeding / raking -- Photo documentation of before and after photos ***Work often includes a significant amount of walking, sometimes on slopes or uneven ground depending on the specific site.*** .
